1.What is your name, what position are you running for, and could
you please sum up your platform in one sentence?
I'm Austin Menyasz and I'm running for the Student Governor seat on the administration's Board of Governors. My platform is simple: the university needs to invest in the classroom experience of its students, and, as Governor, I need to keep you informed through nifty online means (such as a blog and twitter) to ensure transparency and informational equality.
2.Name one thing the University of Ottawa administration is doing right.
They offer a lot of services in a very accessible manner on-line, and have started to realize that the amount of paper they waste is probably not particularly friendly to the environment. Also, if it worked properly, the new WPA internet would be really useful...
3.What is the largest problem on campus?
Students are consistently being sold short with 'intensifying' (read:expanding) class sizes, and an inadequate number of full-time professors. It's about time we started getting real value in the classrooms for our money!
4.What can you bring to the SFUO/BOA/BOG that no other candidate can (aka why should someone vote for you)?
I'm bringing a vision that the other candidates don't register. That the Board of Governors is our chance as students to tell the University of Ottawa that we will not sacrifice our education due to sloppy management, especially considering how much we pay.
5.And to steal a question from my co-op workbook: if you came back from a meeting and there was an elephant in your office, what would you do?
I'd invest in a really big shovel...
